One great help

If you find yourself interpreting serum protein electrophoresis and immunofixations after a bit of a hiatus, this one's for you. Well-written. The author doesn't know, but I am a huge fan. I still re-read passages out of this book to my residents. I almost have it memorized.

The definitive guide

If you can only have one book on protein electrophoresis and interpretation, then this is your bible. If you run serum proteins or IFEs, then you probably already know of Dr. Keren, and if you are just learning than this is the most comprehensive source, not just for basic information on interpretation, but also to understand the whys and hows of electrophoretic techniques. I cannot recommend highly enough. I wish he would write a similar book on hemoglobins.

This book is well written and makes both an excellent learning tool and reference. The book serves as a virtual encyclopedia for everything electrophoresis; with content for gel, capillary, and free light methodologies. Even the experts among you will find information of which they are unaware.

I was lucky enough to attend two symposiums where the author spoke and can attest that the book is written in a clear and concise tone - just like Dr. Keren's lectures, only without the benefit of experiencing his charismatic and light hearted humor first hand.

One of the best of the best...

This book is worth the price of admission alone just for its insights into debunking the origin of Mecca and the Kaaba. Muslims will hate that portion of the book more than almost any other, because there is simply no answer for it.

This book debunks Islam form an historical and cartographical perspective, get it and you'll be able to do likewise, too.

There's nothing there, to the historical origins of Islam, Muhammad never counted on actual scholarship checking his work (how could he?), and this book is the organization of centuries worth of accumulated knowledge.

Get it and you'll not only know what the Western world is more or less unwilling and/or disinterested to learn, but what the Middle Eastern world does not want you to know.

Muslims, please accept the truth.

Dr. Amari's first language is Arabic and he spent 20 years, 6 days a week, 8-9 hours a day - without vacation - in his study of Islam. Our Heavenly Father has raised up many people to reiterate His truths and warn us of His impending Judgement. Dr Amari, exposes Islam for the complete and utter demonic deception that is truly is. One only has to look at the history of the satanic toilet aka Kaaba in Mecca to understand Islam was invented by Muhammad and his fellow lying, stealing, murdering rapists, hell bent on doing Satan's will. Apparently ONE error renders the Quran false. Why is it then, with hundreds of mistakes in the Quran, that we have a single Muslim believer still being deceived?

"The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness." - 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12

Is there anyone out there that believes the apostles of Christ suffered unspeakable torture and barbaric execution defending a lie?

BEST Researched Book-EYE Opener for Modern Muslim brothers

This looks like a well researched book with lot of facts about Islam.
Lots of new information and references for the key points...

I think everyone especially Muslim brothers & sisters should read the book and watch the videos. Because muslim brothers and sisters have the duty to know the truth. What if the existing understanding is false and manipulations. What if the God wants to tell us the truth through these videos and books. There is nothing wrong in checking another side of arguments and so called facts. God/Allah won't be angry for searching for the truth.
God will protect you in your search for the truth. It is the question of your eternal fate. So know all aspects.
This book with research takes you there.

It is a must have for any researcher or someone looking for truth or someone wanting to know the arguments. You won't regret it. The title of the book is true.

Great book; extremely useful and easy to navigate, but the binding was awful. The book was nearly about to fall apart when I first got it. I am just glad they accepted my return when I was done with it.

Excellent Resource for the PE EXAM

Norton is an awesome resource. For students going to college it may seem overwhelming. But it is the MOST up to date text on the market on the subject of Machine Design. While taking the PE exam I compared Shigley vs Norton on information, and Norton had all the answers. The author has done a monumental job in bringing the vast spectrum of Machine Design in a very well composed book. I have yet to come across a resource like Norton. In fact, I recommend this book to practicing engineers. Almost every section of the book has real world value. Its worth having on the shelf. I was always into Shigley but Norton is more in line with industry practice as opposed to academic excercises as presented by Shigley.

An great book for teaching and for reference

I am in the solid mechanics group of the Mechanical Engineering dept. at my university. I have taught Machine Design I and II from this book (3rd and 4th ed.) for 6 semesters and I am very happy with the book. It is clear that the author has actual machine design experience. The book is easy to teach from and the students like it. Each chapter has a lot of problems in the back, some stand-alone for that chapter, others that tie in with previous chapters.

Concepts are presented in a fairly straightforward manner. Derivations are given where applicable. There are numerous examples, and they are usually quite relevant to actual machine parts. Each chapter has a very long, thorough design example at the end, which incorporates the current chapter and concepts from previous chapters.

I have noticed that almost all of my students keep this book after they are done with the course, and use it as a reference for their capstone design projects.

The book is a tad bit pricey, but it has a lot of content, and it is very useful as a reference. I highly recommend it for instructional use and for use as a personal reference.

About the Author

Cliff Roberson is the academic chair of the Graduate School of Criminal Justice, Kaplan University and editor-in-chief of the Professional Issues in Criminal Justice Journal (www.picj.org). He is also an emeritus professor of criminal justice at Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas and a retired professor of criminology, California State University, Fresno. His previous academic experience includes professor of criminology and director of Justice Center, California State University, Fresno; professor of criminal justice and dean of Arts and Sciences at the University of Houston, Victoria, Texas; associate vice-president for Academic Affairs, Arkansas Tech University, Russellville; and director of programs for the National College of District Attorneys, University of Houston.

In 2009, a research study conducted by a group of professors from Sam Houston State University determined that Cliff Roberson was the leading criminal justice author in the United States based upon on his publications and their relevance to the profession.

Dilip K. Das served as police chief before joining academia. He is the founding president of International Police Executive Symposium, IPES (www.ipes.info), which brings police researchers and practitioners together to facilitate cross-cultural, international, and interdisciplinary exchanges for the enrichment of the profession. Professor Das also serves as the founding editor-in-chief of Police Practice and Research: An International Journal which is affiliated with IPES. His publications include more than 24 books and numerous articles. He is a professor of criminal justice and a human rights consultant to the United Nations.

Jennie K. Singer is a clinical forensic psychologist with clinical and assessment experience in a variety of correctional and private practice settings. Dr. Singer is an assistant professor at California State University, Sacramento in the Division of Criminal Justice. She has done research on sex offender recidivism and on sex offender management practices for the California Sex Offender Management Board. She is currently working as an editor for a book on trends in international corrections with Dr. Dilip Das.

An excellent book covering a variety of polcing issues from different countries. It shows how there are more similar issues regarding polcing across the globe than there are differences. An excellent source for students and scholars of polcing studies.

Very nice set of books for the price. Recommended. Read review and view pics for detail on font for pocket-sized "paperback."

Very nice books, binding seems nice. I love the covers although they are not "paperback" and are more of a fake leather material. These books are beautiful and very convenient. They are pocket-sized which is great for on the go, they aren't too small or too big (actually bigger than I anticipated which is a plus). The font size is readable, the only thing I would have to note is that the font size isn't the same throughout the different books. The font size seems to be based on the length of the books, the longer the books are, the smaller the font is (I suppose this was in order to keep them pocket-sized as well as consistent with the sizes of the other books throughout the set). If you have decent to good eyes, this set would be perfectly fine for you on the go but those people who don't have as good of eye sight, because I know some people who tend to get headaches while focusing on small font, this set may not be for you. I will upload some pics of the font comparisons, books, etc.

Stunning Collectors Edition

Having only an old 1994 worn paperback edition of the Lord of the Rings, I wanted to purchase a version that I could read and display for many years to come. I did a ton of research and decided upon this version (ISBN 116-1749849-2513827), illustrated by Alan Lee and published by Harper Collins in June 2014 (I am adding these details because the Amazon.com site does not make it clear what this version is). Please note that this particular printing is NOT available in the US but any Tolkien or LotR devotee should not be deterred (Frodo wouldn't have been!). I must say that this is the finest published one-volume version of the LotR that I have ever laid eyes upon, and is well worth every penny. It includes approximately 50 high-quality color illustrations by Alan Lee, which even for a 30-something like me makes the reading experience exceptional. The front and back covers are made of durable, high-quality cloth (as shown), with a strong and handsome turquoise binding. The pages -- not just the illustrations but the entire book -- are glossy and made of "whiter" paper than you generally find, the margins large, and the typeset easy on the eyes.

For those who care about such things, the printing is based on the 2004 corrected text, with even further corrections. There are updated introductions/forwards by Wayne G. Hammond & Christina Scull, authors of the authoritative "LOTR Readers Companion," as well as by Douglas A. Anderson, who provides a detailed publication history of the Lord of the Rings. The full appendices are included.

Two-page red and black maps of Middle Earth and of Gondor/Rohan/Mordor adorn the front and back covers, with a map of the Shire before the first chapter. Also present are other essentials such as the Doors of Moria and the Tomb of Balin. The only drawback is that the facsimile pages of the Book of Mazarbul was not included, which I found to be surprising and a bit disappointing Also, the ring inscription and the Gandalf "rune" are printed in black rather than silver and red. Probably the main issue is the clear plastic slipcover, which is barely bigger than the book itself, and it is difficult to slip the book back inside it after taking it out. You are more likely to scuff the corners of the book. That being said, these are far from dealbreakers, and the joy to be received from owning this edition far outweighs these issues.

still amazes and remains one of my all time favorite books.

I absolutely ADORE this book.. I will put all that aside and review the copy of the book I actually received. I am thrilled to finally own my very own copy of "The Hobbit". I bought a brand new, in shrink wrap, paper back, in "like new" condition and that is exactly what I got. However, because of the picture listed on this ad I was expecting the black cover with the golden mountains. I was slightly disappointed that my copy was the cover from the movie "The Hobbit" but considering what I paid for it... I cannot complain. I know many would have been very unhappy because some are sticklers for book covers. I try not to be too knitpicky since they both read the same. Aside from that this book was exactly as advertised and I am so happy its here. On a side note- the book was nicked on the back where the bar code is but I would not be surprised if that happend during shipping. Also this book has a few illustrations in it. They are few and far between but they are there. That was a nice surprise.
